Building families one birth at a time
Affordable & Personalized Care

Congratulations! We're excited that you are exploring your homebirth option. EVa Homebirth, formerly Williamsburg Homebirth, has changed its name to better reflect our service area. We have two offices for the convenience of the families that we serve. One is located in charming Colonial Williamsburg and the other is conveniently located in Greenbrier/Chesapeake. We have served many families ranging from Toano to Virginia Beach, including Chesapeake, Williamsburg, Newport News, Gloucester and Mathews, West Point, Suffolk, Norfolk, Windsor, Surry, Ivor, Hampton, Portsmouth, and many towns in between.

WE NOW HAVE A BIRTH SUITE IN CHESAPEAKE!

Our practice offers complete and affordable care throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. We offer waterbirth and VBAC/HBAC clients are welcome. We have convenient daytime and some evening hour appointments so you can save your leave time from work for when it really matters - after baby arrives!

Your care will be personalized to you. Over the course of your pregnancy we'll get to learn more about each other and build the level of trust and friendship necessary for a peaceful birth.

Every study that has compared midwives and obstetricians has found better outcomes for midwives for same-risk patients.  In some studies, midwives actually served higher risk populations than the physicians and still obtained lower mortalities and morbidities.  The superiority and safety of midwifery for most women no longer needs to be proven.  It has been well established. (Madrona, Lewis & Morgaine, The Future of Midwifery in the United States, NAPSAC News, Fall-Winter, 1993, page 30)

Some of the many benefits of our practice:
  • Birth plans welcome!
  • Labor, birth, and postpartum care in the privacy of your home. There are no worries about when to get in the car or having to travel early postpartum with a newborn. Early postpartum visits are done in-home to minimize baby's exposure to germs while their immune system is being boosted. Plus, mom gets to rest which we know is vital to recovery and a huge help for breastfeeding.
  • Eat, drink, and move as you wish during your labor. Our doppler is waterproof so you can stay comfortable in the tub as we check on your baby.
  • No separation of mom and baby. We use gentle voices and care when handling your newborn. We perform a full newborn exam after baby has been able to nurse and adjust to their new surroundings.
  • Delayed cord clamping. Read more about it here.
  • Personalized and patient breastfeeding assistance to get (and keep!) you on the right path.
  • If a transport is required, at least one of us will go with you to help with the transition and offer support as desired.
  • We happily bill your insurance for you after the birth of your baby and help you understand if CPM care is covered under your policy. For those that need it, we offer an easy payment plan. Many people have found that our fee is less than what they'd owe with a deductible. Homebirth truly is an affordable choice!
  • Siblings are welcome and included in the prenatal visits. We have child-friendly offices and many of the children look forward to visiting the midwives and playing with our toys!
  • Ultrasound (if desired/indicated) is available through an in-network provider.
  • Friendly, personal care - clients are welcome to call, email, or text us directly. You always reach a midwife, never an answering service.
  • Extensive lending library.
  • All of our clients are offered discounts for classes offered in our offices and given first "dibs" on reservations.
